Ph.D. in Counselling Psychology; Cross-Cultural Counsellor &
Psychosexual and Relational Therapist

“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right-doing, there is a field. I’ll meet you there.”
― Rumi

We are inter-connected to our families, friends, partners, organisations and to society at large. The interplay between our identities - race, culture, gender, class, sexuality, religion, ability and age - and our environment (context) is often missed in therapy.

In my therapeutic work, there is space for all - the personal, the interpersonal (or the relational), the spiritual, and the political. There is space for support & safety. There is space for emotions, words and silence. There is space for cultural values, worldviews & beliefs and for the communities we come from. There is space for inter-generational connectedness to our ancestors and histories. There is space for intra-group and inter-group differences. There is space for sexual, relational and gender diversity. There is space for social justice training and education for individuals and organisations. Most importantly, there is space to heal.

About

I am a South Asian Indian, acculturated British and acculturated American woman. If that didn’t make sense, I grew up in India, studied in the USA and live & practise in London, UK. I have a Ph.D. in counselling psychology from Teachers College, Columbia University, where I trained and specialised in multicultural counselling. I further specialised in psychosexual and relational therapy. I have over 20 years of experience in providing therapy. As a trainer, I have developed and facilitated hundreds of workshops. I work in-depth with trauma, sexual and domestic violence, racial & ethnic identity, immigrant mental health, sex and sexuality. I divide my time between training, therapy and talking about culture and sex.
